Max Corbett (b. 2001) is a painter based in Jersey (Channel Islands), originally from Suffolk, England.
Max’s recent work explores the tension between solitude and the collective. Rooted in traditional oil painting techniques, his practice is shaped by his background in both fine art and design, giving him a distinctive approach to composition, light, and colour.
Max studied Fine Art and Design at Lancaster University, graduating with first-class honours in 2023. While his early work focused on portraiture, his practice has since evolved into a broader exploration of human presence in contemporary environments. Using his own street photography as a foundation, he transforms captured moments into paintings that balance realism with interpretative abstraction.
His work invites open-ended narratives, encouraging viewers to engage with the characters and spaces he depicts on their own terms.
